When we got our hands on this project, Bakelore was a brainchild waiting to be guided into the world. We were summoned to design the brand identity, but we did something else.
We designed the brand's soul.
How did the name Bakelore come into existence?
The central idea while figuring out a name was nostalgia. The breakthrough was the realisation that all of us share our nostalgia by narrating stories. This realisation led us in the direction of picking the right word and we stumbled upon 'lore'. It wasn’t very long before we arrived at the name Bakelore, which perfectly sits in a sweet spot between the two aspects of the brand: ‘bakery’ and ‘nostalgia’.

While putting together a visual diary of what the brand should feel like, we kept coming back to a sense of nostalgia and an ambience that makes people cherish the good old memories. After several rounds of ideation and iterations, we found inspiration in the joyful look on people's faces when they see a decadent cake.
To further carry the sense of nostalgia and familiar feel, we got inspired by the spaces and elements of the 90s. With a continuous focus on the central idea for the brand’s soul, Bakelore finally got the look and feel it needed to come out as a companion for the good days and the bad ones too.
