In today’s world, convenience reigns supreme. From instant delivery to one-click purchases, we’ve designed our lives around speed and ease. But there’s a downside to all this convenience—laziness. It’s made us careless, especially when it comes to mindful decisions that impact the planet.

At Glater, we saw an opportunity to bring glass bottles back into the spotlight, promoting sustainability and reducing the ever-growing reliance on plastic.

The challenge? Changing a mindset. In a culture where the belief is, “We don’t have time,” glass bottles are often seen as cumbersome. They're heavier, require more care, and don’t fit into the fast-paced, throwaway habits people have adopted. Our mission? To inspire a shift in perception—making mindful consumption feel effortless and rewarding.

THE APPROACH

Curiosity Leads to Change

We knew that simply marketing glass bottles wouldn’t be enough to spark the transformation we envisioned. So, we decided to take a more intriguing and thought-provoking approach. We wanted Glater to be more than just a product—it needed to be a conversation starter.

We began by visiting over 50 stores and speaking with people passionate about sustainability. Through this research, we uncovered the challenges that kept consumers from making the switch to glass:

 

  1. Care and Maintenance: Glass bottles require more care, making them less attractive for people with busy lifestyles.

  2. Cost: Glass is pricier than plastic, making it less accessible to budget-conscious consumers.

  3. Storage: Heavier and more fragile, glass bottles add an extra layer of inconvenience.

  4. Perception of Water Quality: Many consumers equate packaged water with high quality, despite it being one of India’s largest unorganized markets—raising questions about safety and transparency.

    Armed with these insights, we crafted a strategy that wasn’t about forcing a solution but about inviting consumers to pause and rethink their choices.
