Bakelore, founded by Rahul Appani, is a bakery brand that evokes nostalgia and comfort. It's more than just a place to buy pastries; it's a portal to the past, a reminder of simpler times, and a celebration of the joy that comes from sharing stories and savoring life's sweet moments. With Mouse & Cheese, Bakelore became more than just a bakery. We crafted its brand identity, infused it with a soul, and created a comforting atmosphere that resonated with people on a personal level.
STORY OF THE NAME
The birth of
Bakelore.
When we were first introduced to Bakelore, we saw a blank canvas brimming with potential. We knew we wanted to do give it more than just a name, we wanted to bring it to life.
Our central idea while figuring out a name was nostalgia. Our breakthrough was the realisation that all of us share our nostalgia by narrating stories. This realisation led us in the direction of picking the right word and we stumbled upon 'lore'. It wasn’t very long before we arrived at the name Bakelore, which perfectly sits in a sweet spot between the two aspects of the brand: ‘bakery’ and ‘nostalgia’.
OUR STRATEGY
Giving Bakelore a
life and soul.
When we embarked on Bakelore's visual journey, we knew we wanted to create a world that felt familiar, comforting, and nostalgic. We started by collecting images that evoked a sense of warmth, happiness, and fond memories.
From vintage photographs to cozy living rooms, we explored a wide range of visuals that resonated with our vision. We paid close attention to the colors, textures, and overall atmosphere of these images, looking for elements that could be incorporated into Bakelore's brand identity.
While putting together a visual diary of what the brand should feel like, we kept coming back to a sense of nostalgia and an ambience that makes people cherish the good old memories. After several rounds of ideation and iterations, we found inspiration in the joyful look on people's faces when they see a decadent cake.
Once we had a clear understanding of Bakelore's overall aesthetic, we turned our attention to creating specific character styles and visual elements. These elements would help to bring the brand's personality to life and make it more memorable.
We wanted to create characters that were both relatable and endearing. We started by brainstorming different character concepts. We considered their personalities, their appearance, and their role within the Bakelore universe. We wanted characters that were playful, friendly, and nostalgic.
